Camp PLAY Staff




Wendy Orrison, associate professor of Physical Education and Head Field hockey coach at Washington and Lee University, is a certified group fitness instructor and is certified in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR. Wendy is a competive runner and has competed in the Charlottesville 10-miler the past two years. Wendy's focus of instruction for camp will be centered around stretch, dance, balance, and coordination activities. She will also be leading hikes and group fitness games.

Holly Snyder is a licensed certified Athletic Trainer, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, a certified personal trainer, and is certified in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Holly is a competitive runner, competing in the Baltimore half-marathon two years ago. Mrs. Snyder is also a licensed and practicing elementary school teacher in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Holly will be focussing on nutrition education, leading hikes, leading group games and exercises, and leading balance and coordination activities for Camp PLAY.

Kris Hoey has been in the Lexington community for six years and is one of the running coaches at W&L. Kris is an avid runner herself, in addition to being a successful coach at W&L. She competed in the U.S. Olympic trials for the steeplechase in 2001. She has a degree in health and physical education. She will be working with nutrition education and group fitness activities and games for Camp PLAY.



Joel Shinofield has lived in the area for the past six years, after graduating from Washington and Lee in 1994. He has had great success as the director of aquatics and men's swim coach at W&L. Joel has had to retire as a swimmer, but has competed in several competitive running events since graduating from college. His activity with club swimming has given him an abundance of experience working with school aged children of all swimming abilities. He will be leading aquatics sessions and directing water games, in addition to working with group skills sessions and games for Camp PLAY.






Kami Gardner has been in Lexington for two years and is the women's swim coach at W&L. She is an experienced and successful swimmer with success at the national level, including participating in the 1991 US Olympic Trials. She will be leading aquatics sessions and leading water games for Camp PLAY.

Holly, Wendy, Kris, Joel, and Kami are all members of the local community and have young school aged children.
